Key Takeaways

  • Teladoc adds SoloVitals and SoloScribe to strengthen its connected care platform for hospitals.
  • SoloVitals uses smartphone cameras to estimate heart and respiratory rates during virtual assessments.
  • SoloScribe creates clinical notes and transfers summaries to EHRs, reducing repetitive documentation work.

Teladoc Health, Inc. (TDOC - Free Report) is expanding its Solo connected care platform with two new AI-powered tools designed to make virtual consultations more useful for clinicians and less cumbersome for hospitals. SoloVitals and SoloScribe address different bottlenecks in remote care: obtaining timely patient information and documenting visits without pulling attention away from patients.

SoloVitals uses the camera on a smartphone or tablet to estimate heart and respiratory rates by detecting subtle changes in facial skin color. The contactless approach could give clinicians another source of information during virtual assessments. SoloScribe, meanwhile, generates structured clinical notes and transfers summaries into electronic health records (EHR), potentially reducing repetitive documentation work.

By bringing these capabilities together within Solo, Teladoc is making its platform more useful for hospitals seeking to simplify their technology systems. Already installed in more than 15,000 care locations worldwide, Solo integrates with EHR systems such as Epic and Oracle Health. SoloScribe is now generally available, while SoloVitals is currently available to select customers through a private preview. Teladoc expects SoloVitals to reach full general release in December 2026.

The expansion could also strengthen Teladoc's position in the increasingly competitive virtual healthcare market. By combining clinical documentation and remote patient assessment within one platform, Teladoc could help hospitals reduce administrative workloads, improve clinical workflows and deliver more efficient patient care.

The introduction of these tools adds another dimension to Teladoc's efforts to strengthen its enterprise healthcare business. Growing demand for AI-enabled healthcare solutions provides an opportunity to expand its reach, while its established presence among hospitals and health systems offers a foundation for adoption. Wider adoption of these capabilities could strengthen customer retention, increase platform utilization and support sustainable revenue growth, contributing to Teladoc's long-term growth prospects.
